Below please find some details about my educational and professional background:
Dr.Chrysoula Kostogiannis (Dr. Chrys) is an Associate Professor of Psychology and has worked in the field of Counseling and Psychotherapy since 1994.
She was the first psychologist in Greece to be trained and supervised in Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy by Dr. Albert Ellis and his Colleagues at the Albert Ellis Institute (http://albertellis.org/) in New York, USA.
Since 2003, she is the Founder and Director of the Hellenic Institute for Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (www.recbt.gr/en) in Athens, Greece.
She received a B.S. in Psychology in 1986 from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and a M.A. & Ph.D. in Clinical & School Psychology in 1994 from Hofstra University in Long Island, New York and Post-Doctorate Psychotherapy Training in REBT in 2000 from the Albert Ellis Institute, New York City.
Dr. Chrys has been working as a professional practitioner, academic and trainer. She has been active in applying rational-emotive and cognitive behavioral evidence based approaches to understanding, assessessing and dealing with emotional, behavioral and interpersonal difficulties presented within the context of individual, couple, and group therapy. In addition, she has collaborated with many organizations and interdisciplinary teams. She has been involved in training and supervising counselors, therapists and (lately) coaches since 2003 in various countries worldwide.
Since 1995, as an academic, she has taught a plethora of undergraduate and graduate courses at Hofstra University, The American College of Greece – Deree College and Hellenic American College/University, where she has served as a Professor, Assistant Head, Head and Chair of the Psychology Department and Director of the University Counseling Center.
Dr. Chrys served as the President of the recent 2nd Edition of the International Congress on Cognitive Behavioral Coaching (www.iccbc2016.com) which was recently held in Athens, Greece.
